Accessibility Statement for www.greenallotments.org.uk
Introduction
This website is run by Green Allotments CIO, Registered Charity number 1200535.
We aim for as many people as possible to use this website.
We are a small charity with one staff member, we test the website every quarter to check accessibility. The person responsible for the website and updates has attended a training course “Making your website accessible” delivered by Voluntary Organisations Directory Agency (VODA, North Tyneside). All updates to the website are pre-checked for accessibility before being uploaded. We are aiming to achieve Website Accessibility Guidelines to level AA and plan to do so by end of 2025.
Accessibility features on this website
On the Green Allotments website, you should be able to do the following:
- Navigate the site using most browsers
- Navigate the website in a predictable way
- Zoom in on content by up to 200%
- Use the website without a mouse, using a keyboard or assistive technologies like screen readers
- Get hints and prompts if you make a mistake when you’re navigating
- See and hear information which is clearly laid out and in plain language
- See and hear lists and headings which are ordered and marked in a hierarchical sequence
- See and hear Alternative Text for web content that is non-textual
- See and hear captions and other alternatives for images and videos.
Testing
The website’s accessibility was tested in March 2025 by a specialist, who also provided bespoke advice on improvements. We have followed this advice. For example, we have inserted Alt Text on our images and graphics; used black on white font colour on our small text because our brand colour green #62912f is inaccessible at small text size; inserted more headings on our webpages to enable navigation without a mouse.
Non-compliance
Where the website does not comply: Contrast colours (green/white) on the Contact Form and the Top Header Menu Buttons, because this is default colours for WordPress SKT Green Theme.
